West Terrace Stormwater Works – Project Update

Stormwater construction works are continuing along the West Terrace swale drain, with steady progress being made across the site. The area encompassing the existing swale drain has been cleared and scrubbed of vegetation to allow construction activities to proceed safely and efficiently. Following this, the widening and deepening of the swale drain is well underway, increasing its capacity and improving overall drainage performance through the catchment.

During construction, several stormwater service conflicts have been identified involving SA Water water mains and individual property supply connections across the site. These conflicts are present at multiple locations and have required careful coordination to ensure services are protected and future functionality is maintained. Council is currently working closely with SA Water to negotiate and resolve these interface issues, which will enable the safe continuation of the stormwater installation works once rectification measures are agreed upon.

Significant progress has also been achieved between West Terrace and Paulson Road, with culvert installations and associated roadway works now completed in this section. These works are a key component of the overall upgrade and provide improved stormwater conveyance while maintaining road access and safety.

Overall, the project is approximately 35% complete. Once finalized, the works will deliver long‑term improvements to stormwater capacity, reduce flooding risk, and enhance resilience of the local road and drainage infrastructure.
