March 2026 Update

23 March 2026

Wallaroo Entrance Road Upgrade

The Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT) has now assumed control of the Victoria Street and Owen Terrace corridor, extending from the Athena Drive / Copper Coast Highway intersection through to the Irwine Terrace and Owen Terrace intersection. Works along this section are progressing steadily, with the demolition and removal of the existing kerb completed. Kerbing earthworks have commenced and are currently underway between the Athena Drive intersection and Irwine Terrace, preparing the area for new infrastructure installation.

As part of the upgrade, new stormwater outlet locations have been identified and allocated to allow for future stormwater downpipe connections from adjoining properties, improving long-term drainage outcomes throughout the project area.

Works have also commenced at the Bowman and Sharples Road roundabout, where profiling and shaping activities are underway. This has included preparation of the road surface and the laying of a new asphalt seal to enhance safety, durability, and traffic flow through the intersection.

Road closures remain in place across affected sections of the project and will continue until the works are completed. DIT has actively communicated these impacts by notifying nearby residents, installing Variable Message Sign (VMS) boards on impacted roads, and consulting with the general public to minimise disruption and maintain awareness of traffic changes.
