Stage 2 - Vegetation Clearance

13 October 2025

Copper Coast Council is pleased to announce that Stage 2 of the Coast Road Shared Path Project has officially commenced. This next phase will extend the shared path from Rossiters Road through to Harrys Point Road, completing a key active transport connection between Moonta Bay and Port Hughes.

In preparation for construction, roadside native vegetation has been carefully tidied and cleared, ensuring the area is ready for the installation of the new path. The vegetation works have been carried out with consideration for environmental values while providing the necessary space for construction activities.

This clearance is a crucial step that will allow for:

  • Installation of the shared path, creating a continuous and safe route for both pedestrians and cyclists.
  • Construction of retaining walls to stabilise the roadside and enhance user safety.
  • Improved roadside drainage along Coast Road to support the new infrastructure and reduce surface water issues.

Stage 2 will build on the success of the completed Stage 1, further improving safety, accessibility, and connectivity for the local community and visitors. Once complete, the Coast Road Shared Path will provide a scenic and secure route linking Moonta Bay to Port Hughes, encouraging active transport and outdoor recreation.

Council will continue to keep the community informed as works progress and appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation during this important infrastructure upgrade.
