Stage 1 Complete

Copper Coast Council is pleased to announce the completion of Stage 1 of the Coast Road Shared Path Project. This important milestone delivers a safe and accessible route for both pedestrians and cyclists, improving connectivity between Moonta Bay and Port Hughes.

Stage 1 involved the construction of the new shared path from Bay Road through to Rossiters Road, providing a continuous roadside pathway for bike and foot traffic. The works included:

  • Installation of a hot mix shared path to create a smooth and durable surface.
  • Retaining walls to stabilise sections of the path and enhance safety.
  • Pram ramps and access points at intersections to ensure ease of use for all community members, including those with prams, wheelchairs, or mobility aids.
  • Kerbing and edge treatments to clearly define the path and improve drainage and aesthetics.

This newly completed section offers a safer and more enjoyable way for residents and visitors to travel along Coast Road, reducing the need for pedestrians and cyclists to share the roadway with vehicles.

Stage 2 of the project will continue the shared path from Rossiters Road through to Harrys Point Road, completing the connection between Moonta Bay and Port Hughes and further enhancing the area’s active transport network.
