Wallaroo Aquatic Facility Design Approved

7 May 2026

On Wednesday, 6 May 2026, Council resolved to deliver the original design specifications of the Wallaroo Aquatic Facility; a premium facility which will be enjoyed by the community and visitors to the region for generations to come.
Council previously resolved to develop a rescoped project, addressing key design criteria of the project while reducing the budget.
Considering both options, Council determined to return to the original design, seeing the full project scope and funding model move forward.
The project will be a significant investment for Council, with a prudential review to take place, and ensuing updates to Council’s Long Term Financial Plan, ensuring Council maintains its strong financial position. Importantly, the project promises to deliver a safe and accessible facility for the entire community, with accessibility design integral to Council’s successful application for external funding.
This remains a key objective of the project, with a staged approach now planned to achieve some design components which fall outside the scope of the initial funding allocation.
“We have engaged in extensive community consultation to arrive at this design, and throughout rigorous debate our goal has remained set on providing the best facility to service our community as it continues to develop and grow”, Mayor Roslyn Talbot said.
Necessary variations in the project timeline will now be worked through. Updates regarding the project’s progress will be readily available via yourcoppercoast.sa.gov.au.
