At a special meeting on the 24^th March 2026, Council considered revised engineering advice and cost estimates against the original estimates prepared in 2022. Due to very significant increased cost of the project, Council has resolved to reduce the scope of the project, and in doing so, request a variation to the grant agreement with the Australian Government, as a key project funding partner.

Importantly, Council remain focused on delivering some primary objectives of the project arrived at through extensive community consultation, including;

• A secure swimming enclosure;
• Disability access to the enclosure area;
• A 50m swimming zone for lap swimming and events.

Council hopes to install some or all of the project elements before the 2026/27 summer season, in line with the original project timeline.
