Project

The project will involve the sealing of Moonta Road including the design, tendering and installation of stormwater infrastructure, kerbing and then sealing of the road. The project will be implemented in two stages with close consultation with local residents.

Stages

Moonta Road Construction - Stage One

The Copper Coast Council has moved a step closer to the sealing of Moonta Road with a tender being released for stage one of the project, seeking quotations for the installation of stormwater, kerbing and the sealing of Moonta Road between East Terrace and Haylock Road. See Figure 1 - Project Area Scope - Moonta Road, Moonta.

Council have completed the engineering survey and engineering design for the area. Council are hopeful to be reviewing tenders at the start of April 2025, and appointing contractors in the middle of that month. Council is confident the project will be delivered this year, and we look forward to providing an update on timelines once the tender has been awarded, but a 2025 delivery date is expected.

An overview of Council’s expectations/deliverables for stage one is below:

·Underground service location completed, and report submitted back to Council

·All stormwater to be installed

·Reshaping of the existing road where required

·Kerbing on both sides of the road completed

·Sealing of the road

·Linemarking, signage, road pavement markers etc.

Moonta Road Construction - Stage Two

The second stage of sealed roads between East Terrace and Carlisle Street is still to come. The second stage will start with consultation from local residents. Council will release further details regarding consultation for stage two in the coming weeks.
